[Hammarlund] aligning my HQ-180

Hi Bo, Bob, et al,
There are "improved alignment notes for the HQ-170 -180's. One manual
has it correct, the following will show that, along with some additional
notes which should be of some help to you. The link on The Hammarlund
Historian website, in the "manuals" section is corrupt, I'll fix it
later, but now, if you just go to
"http://www.hammarlund.info/download/HQ170_180alignment.pdf"
you'll get them.
There's also some factory svc notes for them on the "service" page.
If any of the IF cans won't tune properly, you may have a problem with
the embedded capacitors in their bases. I have some info on that fix
somewhere, it's not easy, but is necessary if it's a problem.

For a good alignment source, you want your signal to be *only* on the output terminals. Signal running all over the place makes things tough. The simple solution often is to put the generator far away from the radio. That’s not very convenient, but it’s easier than buying a new generator.

Is that a problem or do I need to step that impedance down to 50 ohms? This is the only generator I have that will put out a 60kc signal source to align my low IF. If I need to step the impedance down, how do I go about that, just add some resistors in line to bring it to 50 ohms?
