Yeah - disassemble the entire tuning mechanism - take everything off -
and clean the daylights out of it.
When it is fully disassembled, you should be able to rotate the main
capacitor shaft with two fingers. If you can't, that is the problem, and
that one is harder to fix (press-fit bearings). Hopefully, the capacitor
itself will rotate smoothly and a good cleaning of the entire gear train
will work wonders.
