[Hammarlund] Recapping my SP 600 JX17

John,

I am NOT Al. However, I'll throw my $0.02 into this fray!

One methos of dealing with the springs - slip thread through then BEFORE
you fiddle with them. This method keeps then tethered! Just as the
astronauts do on their EVAs or Space-Walks. It was recently brought up
on the R-390 list by someone trying to put the spring BACK into split
gears. (He chased one that got away - got LUCKY and found it.)

Xicon [sp], (I believe you mean Xircon!?), will work JUST as good as
Orange Drops!

Somewhere along the line WE either got stuck on Sprague, or the term OD
has become universal.

Let us know how your endeavors go. I've got a J11 Northern Variant. I
haven't gone into the turret myself. But as SOON as the St. Js R-390a
gets off the bench - the Northern goes on!
