Like Andy Moorer said, all those high value resistors and caps in the avc
chain need to be replaced, pay particular to the silver micas. For many,
many years they were thought to be good "fprever." Silver migration finally
caught up to them too.
Don't forget the black tubulars inside T-9 whuch is the second conversion
can upside down on the bottom side of the chassis. There are a couple in
there, anywhere from 53-59 total if I remember correctly. My choice of the
easy to get at ones would be Orange Drops, but use ceramic discs in the rf
turrett, as they is precious little space on those coils and you need room
to insert the adjustment tool when aligning.
Do not put any kind of lubricant on the gear train..trust me on this, brass
gears are self lubricating. Use some synthetic oil on the band change gear
mechanism and the shafts of the tuning knob and tuning condenser bearings.
