John,
I just finished tuning mine up last night, seems a sweet receiver so far.
But, what I found in mine is that the xtal filter is centered at 458KHZ,
so tuning the IF to 455 per directions would not have been optimal. I'd
suggest finding the xtal center freq and tuning the IF for that to get
the most out of these beasts.
The 129x seemed to beat my NC-183 in pulling AM'ers out of the qrm last
night (just a quick test), and possibly better than my HQ-160 with the
Q-multiplier in use. I think I like it!
