[Hammarlund] HQ-129X, tuning LSB

I finally have my 129X up and running, after killing it last year while
trying to address AC voltage on the case (still a problem, and I belive
folks told me it was probably bad capacitors in the power supply section).
It works great, and I've been enjoying pulling in SW, CW, AM and even ham
(Upper Side Band) traffic in the 20 meter band.

However, I'm having a devil of a time tuning in ham traffic in the 75
meter band. I have good strong signals, but I can't get them clarified
with the BFO. It always sounds as if I'm on the wrong sideband.

Any tips for tuning? Am I out of alignment, and just unable to tune on
the proper side of the signal? Every so often, I *do* get oopyable
voice... but no heterodyne so I'm pretty sure it's not AM. I don't know
if this is one of those "Single Wide Band" or DSB guys though.

Thanks for any tips.

(oh, and the problem which "killed" it turned out to be a wire in the
tuning section shorting to ground, which disabled most of the main tuning
capacitor)
