[Hammarlund] Collins or Hammarlund?

The Collins is MUCH more stable than the SP-600.
Also, the calibration is MUCH closer on all bands than
the SP-600.

I used to own two SP-600-JX17 receivers and, frankly,
I have never been sorry that I traded them off. I
owned one R-390 and it was a very good receiver. I
just didn't like the main tuning arrangement. I now
have a 51J2 and like it very much.

In my personal opinion, it is not inches and feet, but
inches and yards! The SP-600 is easier to work on
than the Collins, but, frankly, every SP-600 that I
have seen (and I have seen several), drifts pretty
badly, especially on the upper bands.

Now, I have owned two HQ-140X receivers over the years
(have one now), and after about 30 minutes warm up
they are VERY stable. They just don't have the dial
accuracy that any of the Collins amateur radio
receivers have.

Okay -- just for fun -- R-390 or SP-600?

Tell me about them, warts and all, please. Which

Collins, et al; but is it a matter of inches or feet),
and which one's easier to work on. I assume I'll have
to work on whichever one I buy -- especially if it's
an eBay queen.
