[Hammarlund] HQ-145 question

I presume the transformers in these critters are similar to the
170/180 radios ... with a ferrite slug in a paper form.
What typcially happens is that the slug cracks on the vertical axis.
Rotating the slug then causes the 2 halves (or however many
pieces there are) to expand and essentially lock inside the form.
I have on a couple of occasions been able to "dremel" out the
broken slug and then replace it. On most occasions when I've tried
this, I've ended up destroying the coil form. It's easier to try and find
a good part out of a junker ....
Might just leave it where it is if the radio appears to be working well
enough.
