[Hammarlund] HQ-180 audio

To all: Has anyone noticed the improvement in A.M. audio quality by using
the verineer tuning in conjunction with the slot frequency control (with a
somewhat reduction in selectivity)? To my understanding, early HQ-180's
didn't have the verineer tuning control. Anyone know if they sound
different? I guess it boils down to choosing your poison...audio or
selectivity. On 11 meter CB, I can separate stations transmitting on the
same channel at the same time. My fancy Cobra Transciever can't do that. I
agree that the sideband audio is great. Do these these mods sacrifice
sideband audio quality for an improvement in A.M. quality? 73's...Mike
