Another possible source of interference is a police
scanner. Many have a lot of LO re-radiation out of the
antenna port along with other spurious emissions.

How do I know this? A group of us identified a scanner
as the cause of interference to a local repeater. We would
hear it sweeping across the input when the repeater rx was
opened by anything lower than a medium strength signal. It
was annoying. The good part is that the scanner was owned
by a ham so there was no problem in getting the offending
channels locked out.

Good luck with your problem,
