Don't forget the outside powerlines. Could be a television set spewing
garbage over the lines or even through the air up to many blocks away. This
is where using a portable receiver is a great idea. Could also be a bad
insulator on a lightpole...even a rickedy joint in a rain gutter or aluminum
siding somewhere in the neighborhood. A good source of information is the
chapter on eliminating RFI in the ARRL handbook. Not only does it well cover
the technical aspects, but also how to deal with any other people who may be
part of the problem, including your local utility. (Most anyone is going to
think you're a nutcase...most hams and DX'ers know this.) Make sure you have
a "clean house" before you start knocking on people's doors or bothering the
light company. This is probably the worst aspect of our hobby and usually
the toughest to solve. We can prevent interfering with others. I really
don't care if someone hacks my computer. When someone or something hacks my
