[Hammarlund] 'Lytics for SP-600?

Hi.
A couple quick questions. (Ain't I pain in the backside?)
I plan on also replacing the 'lytics in this receiver (naturally).
"Normally" I just use common axial lead capacitors in my BA's, either
removing the original can or leaving it in for cosmetics. I usually also
often increase the values by about 50% or so as I've found it often reduces
residual hum in high quality headphones (though I don't go overboard as it
can wreak havoc on rectifier tubes). (I've been working on radios since the
mid 50's)
The quick questions.
I'm considering "biting the bullet" and buying an expensive can for this
receiver as I feel the set is well worth keeping as original as possible.
1. Modern cans (FP) have the case common while the SP-600 uses a separate
ground pin. Has anyone experienced a "ground loop" (extra hum) by clamping
an FP can in the original clamp? (stereo amps can be susceptible to this if
grounds aren't kept straight).
2. I read on at least one of the sites about using "High ripple"
capacitors? Is this something new? Now, the only thing I've really heard
about being critical in filters is using "Low ESR" caps in switching
supplies or high temp caps (100 degree) in high temperature areas. For BA's
I've always just used good quality capacitors.
3. Receiver "resale value" wise, Is it "really" worth spending the 30-35
bux for a can capacitor to keep the set original, or would I do just as well
to buy three 3 dollar axials and installing a couple terminal strips?
(Budget is always a big consideration here).
