Ed, thanks for the info. I think the serial # on my 180 is "1099". The  =
number is stamped into the rear chassis next to one of the S-meter =
adjustments. And yes, there are the metal plates affixed to the front =
panel for the BFO and VERNIER tuning controls. This leads me to think =
that this mod was done after the rig came off the production line. Also =
explains why the owners manual shows the slot depth control on the front =
panel instead of under the lid. Another mystery solved. Thanks for your =
