Ed, thanks for the info. The serial # on mine is I think "1099". It's
stamped on the rear chassis next to one of the S-meter adjustments. And yes,
there are the metal plates affixed to the front panel for the BFO and
VERNIER tuning controls. This leads me to think that this mod was done after
the rig left the production line. It would also explain why the owners
manual shows the SLOT DEPTH control on the front panel instead of under the
top lift-up cover. Another mystery solved. Thanks again...73's Mike Taylor
