[Hammarlund] HQ110 dial slip

I've just completed a magnificent job of restoring an HQ110AC - except
for one little tiny teeeny weeeeny little detail.  The dial slips so
much it's useless.  There appears to be no way to adjust the tension of
the little pulley like thingee on the tuning knob shaft and the edge of
the dial.  So does this mean I should put bees wax or something like
that in the there so it can get a grip on the dial?  Or am I missing
something?
