[Ham-Mac] OT: Software Compatibility

Note that 10.6.6 still supports Rosetta, which means that Carbon PPC applications can still work. You have to explicitly install Rosetta when installing the OS. Apple has already announced that this will not be the case for 10.7 (Lion). Rosetta is going away, so we will only be able to run Intel-only programs. I have several important applications that still run in PPC mode, so I will make sure these are upgraded or a substitute is found before upgrading whenever the new OS is released. One is an engineering drawing program to replace Canvas X. Haven't found one I like yet...

So Lion will truly take us out of the PPC era!

I second the Graphics Converter suggestion. It is an excellent program well supported by its developer.
