The simplest way is to enable vox on the K3, it will then automatically go
into TX whenever it senses an audio signal on line in. In Data mode A vox
should enable ( I have just tried it now and it works) when you hold down
the vox button. I suspect that you are in another data mode such as psk31d.
I can't remember exactly how the K3 works in this respect and there was a
firmware bug a few revisions ago, but you might find the data mode is
remembered on the K3 on a band by band basis, so setting it right for 20m
doesn't mean it's right for 30m for example. If you haven't got the latest
firmware (3.68) on the K3 then I would suggest you go to the Elecraft site
and get it, it's stable and works well.
Hope that helps, 73
