[Ham-Mac] OT: Apple 24" LED Cinema Monitor - Cable is too short!

Santa brought me a nice new Mac Pro and 24" display for
Christmas.....that's the good news. The bad news is that the
hardwired video/USB connecting cable on the monitor is only about 3
feet long and is too short to allow for a desktop installation with
the tower.

Apple has neither an extension cable available or nor a solution,
even after several years worth of complaints and discussion on the
Apple forums.

The display is advertised as a solution for laptops...but nowhere do
they mention the length of the connecting cable. The Apple sales
agent didn't bother to mention "Oh by the way the cable is very short
and may not be able to connect to your shiny new Mac Pro" either.

So, if you're considering the 24" LED Cinema display be forewarned
that you'll have to purchase a third-party extension cable to work
with anything but a laptop or mini located very close to the monitor.

If anyone is in a similar predicament you may want to consider Dr.
Bott's extension cable set:

pricey to say the least and there are cheaper alternatives around if
you search but what I have being overnighted to me so I can put this
new toy into place.

Totally appalled at the poor engineering and marketing for this one
by Apple.
