There are several places in CocoaMmodem to set the input levels, so  
play with those controls a bit.

As it comes form teh download, you need to set up the audio input  
level for each mode separately, although there is a preference where  
you can select the same input for each. You can use a separate input  
device for each mode, which is nice if you want to run a different  
radio for CW than you do for RTTY as an example. - Duffey
