sh is a command line shell. cron is a task schedule, cron started sh.
cron is used to run programs on a periodic basis, often programs that
do lengthy tasks, like indexing files, etc. My guess is that is what
happened. you can run crontab -l from the console window to see the
scheduled tasks for your account, but it is likely that the cron job
is running under another account, either root or another account with
root privileges.
