I am a new member of this group and this post is both a test to see
if I am posting correctly and a request for information. I have a G5
power mac and am just starting to use it for Ham Radio. Although, I
have been a Mac owner and user for some time, I have been using an
old Dell PC and Digipan for PSK. The reason that I have not used the
Mac is that the G4 which I owned is not very well shielded and
reacted 'violently' when I transmitted, even at 11 watts. The reason
for this probably is that I live in a retirement apartment with the
Isotron antenna mounted on the top of the bookcase!! With this
arrangement I have been successful in reaching stations in Canada and
Eastern US. The G5 is shielded with heavy aluminium and has proved
immune from TX problems. (I am using an Icom 756 PROII).
I have downloaded the Blackcat systems multimode but I have been
having a very hard time tuning it to signals. Are there any PSK
programs for the Mac (OS X) that use the waterfall type of tuning,
like Digipan?? Or am I just missing something? Until I get this
worked out I will have to use the trial version. Eventually, I will
also want to TX with PSK. I was using Rigblaster. I guess I will
have to use a USB serial port for this??
Any assistance will be appreciated.
