"I don't think that BT can tell what you have hooked up to their 
modem, nor would it matter. Just plug the damn thing into your 
ethernet port and GO!

I have a G4 here, on cable, and it works fine. I ALSO have an ancient 
Power Computing Power Center 150, OS 8.6, ethernetted and it ALSO 
works just fine. Slower, but fine. You just have to use an older 
browser that runs under your operating system.

Just don't expect any support from BT if you have any problems, 
because their tech support people probably won't have any answers."
