Absolutely - I have an older iMac running a satellite gateway here - the
only time it's been down since 10.1.2 came out is when the power went off :)
...and also a flood of open source unix software which has been ported, like
the free Celestia - it's stunning !

I am running OS9 and Classic for some applications that still require it but
there is no question that OS X is the future - the very near future.
