You should not be liable as MS has already (most probably) paid
the patent license fee for the software.  The license Unisys wishes to
impose is upon the authors of software that use LZW compression.  Users
of properly licensed software are not liable for the license fee either.
However, I cannot speak about the liability of using unlicensed software
that uses LZW compression here in the U.S.A.

That said, the way the patent was handled with a "bait and switch"
approach does not endear me to Unisys even though I think the patent
expires in several months.
