[Ham-Computers] Computer Clock Problems

I had a Toshiba with a similar problem, however...

The battery did measure 3 volts out of the computer, but less in the 
computer, potential problem #1, secondly, this battery did NOT run the 
clock, turns out there was another battery, a pack, actually, three button 
cells inline, secured with shrink tube with about three inches of wire 
terminating in a plug, this was under the keyboard trim.  This pack was NiCd 
and DID run the clock in my laptop.  Replaced both, since I had it open, all 
is well.  Still not sure what the CR2032 in my laptop runs.
