I've never seen the problem you're experiencing in Word97, but I have seen "reversed", "inverted", and right-side left images during video playback - these usually point to a video driver problem or incompatibility.  Try updating (or even down-grading) the video driver and see if it helps.

For reference, Word97 was designed for Win95 - some of the graphics API's were antiquated when Win2K/XP came out and it's possible the video driver no longer includes a particular function call that Word97 needs.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that.  Still get "blue"
(or reversed) colors.
