For what it's worth. I run Windows XP Media Edition and Office 97. I have
never experienced your problem and I still use Office 97 and PowerPoint 97
quite a bit.

Hi Marty,
No, I know a picture can look funny when you've just Inserted it into
the document. But this is long after the picture has been added,
deselected, and saved to file.
Maybe it's time for a newer version of MS Office. Or - I can just
switch to Open Office which is really nice, but a new learning curve.
