One point that I'll add to the several viable methods various list members 
have offered is that the issue of FAT32 (or FAT16 for that matter) versus 
NTFS would only be an issue if you were physically moving the drive into 
another box with an OS that did not support the drive format architecture.  The 
recipient of any of the various copy methods suggested is unaware of how the 
source drive is organized.

Finally, one other file transfer method if both machines have Ethernet 
ports is to just cable the two machines together (without hub, switch or 
router).  This is known as peer-to-peer.  But it requires a cross-over cable, not a 
straight-through.  A cross-over cable has the receive and transmit pairs 
crossed (swapped) in the connector at one end (doesn't matter which end).
