if I'm reading this correctly, have the person who's having trouble save
the attachment/message to an easily findable directory in whatever
format it wants to save it.

Then go through Windows Explorer to that directory and click on the
saved file.

I suspect the reason that the message asking for login came up is that
it was asking if she wanted to MAIL the attachment, not if it WAS a mail
attachment.

Windows is very helpful.  Mostly too much so.
