   UNIX was developed by Ken Thompson in 1969 the first version of Unix,
was called UNICS.
   What was BIll Gates Jr. doing then?  I think he was in junior high school.
The DOS commands are the two letter UNIX command "humanized" into words.
DOS did not copy every UNIX command.  It is a simplified version.
BTW: CP/M was developed before DOS as far as I know, it also used a lot
of UNIX commands.
