It is if you cant get Xwindows to work, but I dont
believe DOS is a subset of Unix.

I also dont understand why anyone would want to
fool with DOS. At least not the earlier versions.

I spent a weekend about a week ago amusing myself
by resurecting an old 4.7mhz 8088 clone XT. Used
DOS 3.21. 640k ram, no networking, no email, no
browers, no internet capability, but it will run
wordprocessors and spreadsheets. Anyone recall
WordStar? It is also good at running a rousing
game of Zork.

I think there is a DOS version 9 hiding in one of
the MS Windows releases. That might be fun. Or
you can try DR-DOS 7.2, but you might want to do
that on something more capable than an old 4.7mhz
XT.

Personally, I have found the mouse and GUI a very
timesaving convenience. The only time I go to
commmand line on my Linux machine is when I have
to make a configuration change. After being
burned a few times, I dont trust the GUI utilities
to edit configuration files.
