how are you connected now? Directly to cable/high speed? Dialup? Home
network? Inet connection sharing?
Have you checked your TCP/IP settings - DHCP or custom values?

can you use that to share a connection?
Does she get out aside from email?

have you tried starting a new connection from scratch?
reinstalling TCP/IP?
uninstalling and reinstalling network card?

The fact that you have email connectivity only is a little weird (unless
your provider is mostly down).
are you familiar with the ping command?
Ping whatever you can - other machines on network (if you're on one) or
your router or provider.
Good luck.
