You are right. I blew it. The OS I am using is Windows 98 SE. It it the original CD
that came with the computer.

Sequence of events.

1. I occasionally used MSPAINT and it could save files in .jpg format.
I was not aware of any modifications made to paint to allow it to save in .jpg
format.

2. My system crashed, and I did a "format C:" to my hard drive.

3. I reinstalled Windows 98 SE from the original CD that came with the computer.

4. Now, MSPAINT will only save files in .bmp format.

As far as I know, the installation of Windows 98  SE from the original CD should
install everything required for MSPAINT. MSPAINT is supplied as part of Windows 98
SE.

I also remember paint being available as part of Windows 95. I do not remember if
the windows 95 version of paint would save in .jpg format.

As a point of information, my sister in Michigan tells me her MSPAINT program will
save files in .bmp; .jpg; and .gif files. Her system is also windows 98 SE.
