[Ham-Computers] XP and Netscape 7.0 problems

I am having several, probably unrelated, problems with my computer
running XP and Netscape 7.0. They appear to be problems with the OS or
with Netscape but of course getting help from Bill Gates or Netscape is
a joke. Netscape doesn't really owe me help, but I paid over $100 for
XP so they owe me something.

The most irritating problem I have is that, often while reading my email
in netscape I will click on an operation (seems random as to which item
I chose) just the mouse click itself causes netscape to close
immediately. I have also experienced this...but rarely (maybe because I
spend 99% of my time in Netscape)...in other programs as well.

The second problem is that when I download a program from the internet
in Netscape it always appends an extension of .JPG on the end.
 (example....newprogram.zip becomes newprogram.zip.jpg) which causes
netscape to try to open it as a JPG file which it is not so the file
wont open. This necessitates that I go into DOS and find the file and
eliminate the extra extension. There may be a way to do it in XP, but I
cannot find it.

Any help would be appreciated.
