You need to get a new tape measure, Carl. The KW-1 is less than one
third the footprint of a Viking KW. Aside from the receiver which can
sit on top, on a shelf, or on a pizza box atop the electric range, it
doesn't need any accessories. :D

Nor is it now, but we're talking contemporary comparisons.

Sorta like comparing an F1 car to your Impala. I don't think the Navy
rigs were built for or with amateurs in mind.

Yep, Leo did like Heathkit and used whatever surplus parts were
available in quantity at the time. And made circuit changes like
Hallicrafters did, mid-stream.

Been a while since I was on 10, 15, or 20m. I seldom operate 75, but I
do enjoy 80m, or as W3GMS calls it "the 160m portion of the 75m meter
band". 40m is fun too, and the 10m aerial should be up within a week
or so. You need to get on sometime other than contests to hear and
work me. (o:

You shouldn't need to be patient too long if you want another. I've
helped broker half dozen deals for folks around the country who were
selling theirs in the last 18 months or so. Prices are down on those
too, and I have a feeling that, like the SX-88, there will be more
coming up for sale soon.
