The Ranger had the VFO and the Desk also held the HRO-60 plus accessories.
You have more in a smaller footprint.
It came out later, so they had plenty of

Who cares about 160, a KW wasnt legal then.

That was the other I was thinking about.
Of course you could always get one of those shipboard or shore station Navy
rigs.

Those never turned me on and of the ones Ive worked on no two are alike.

Ive reached the saturation point in the basement with 4 AM KW+ amps but I
operate all bands wheras you and others rarely budge off 75. Im thinking of
thinning the herd in favor of a couple of big linears and 1-2 old style. I
should have never sold the Desk in the early 80's
