[Hallicrafters] HA-1 Keyer

I have one and I prefer it to "modern" solid-state keyers for the following reasons:
1. It is not solid-state
2. I don't use CW enough to need Iambic operation
3. I can fix it if it malfunctions (none to date)
4. It will handle "hot" cathode keyed rigs without going wacko or burning up
5. It was "state of the art" in the '60's when I was first licensed and fits with the rigs I now use in my "old age"
YMMV

Subject: [Hallicrafters] HA-1 Keyer
I just won a HA-1 keyer. I have the instructions from
BAMA although they are not very high rez (understatement of
the week).
I've read the various comments about it, evidently a
very good keyer but those who like digital stuff think its a
bit obsolete, I guess because it can't fix bad key handling.
I wonder if others on this list have them or have used them
and what you think of them. Also, is there a better handbook
available than the one on BAMA?
