Richard,
I love mine..I have 2. One I use on the HT-44, the other on the HT-32B.
(Also fine on the T-4xc Drake)
I personally like the feel of it...it has a nice natural timing I like.
BUT, I only use 10-18 WPM, so I'm no X-military guy like my near
neighbor at 45 WPM yet today.

I just won a HA-1 keyer. I have the instructions from
BAMA although they are not very high rez (understatement of
the week).
I've read the various comments about it, evidently a
very good keyer but those who like digital stuff think its a
bit obsolete, I guess because it can't fix bad key handling.
I wonder if others on this list have them or have used them
and what you think of them. Also, is there a better handbook
available than the one on BAMA?
