Hello,
I am working on a Hallicrafters S-40B. There is a 40 K ohm connection from the input winding to the output winding on the center IF transformer. I took the IF transformer out and removed the cover. There is melted plastic around one pin. It looks like there was a short to the cover as well as the other pins. I can disconnect the pin(s) and make the connection with 28 gauge wire. My question is, where is the capacitor for the tuned circuit? In the base if the plastic or under the core slug? If its in the plastic my idea of using 28 gauge wire will not work unless I add a capacitor.
Thanks Tom
