[Hallicrafters] knob

I don't have a  knob for a S-38, but Hallicrafters did make a special knobs with about a 1/8 " bore (not an adapter) for their radios that had the type of BFO used by the S-40 and  many others that varied the pitch by adjusting a slug  in the BFO coil with a threaded shaft  that went through the front panel. I recently restored an 8R40 with the original BFO knob and it has a small plastic tab molded on the inside of the knob's skirt that hits the stop tab on the panel and have seen similar knobs on other Hallicrafters.
