With all due respect to the OP, and I sincerely sympathize with your situation, David is right on.
Shipping something of value without requiring a signature from the buyer is taking an enormous risk. If the shipper puts it on the buyer's front porch, and then somebody steals it off his porch, it's not the shipper's fault, and it's not the buyer's fault.
Always, always, always send it insured with a signature required.
