Well, in its defense, it was nearly 30 yrs ago and the limited talents
I have now were even more limited then, so chances are good I wasn't
getting best performance out of the SX-9. I did like the knob-on-dial
tuning system, was very basic but effective. Pretty well-built overall
too. Just didn't interest me much. What's the significance between the
Halli emblem in the upper right corner? Mine didn't have that. First
run? Second?

That's the other part of the story: I came across my first HQ-120X
around the same time, and it was no contest. The Hammars of the day
were about as good as it got, even the 'low end' 120 as you pointed
out recently. One of the few sets I regretted selling, though there's
a 129X in the queue waiting for some work.

It's another nice rig, used within its limits. You really need the
DB-20 preselector paired up with it to get near the HRO or SP-10/100.
There's a nice one waiting for me just south of you, need to pick it
up next time I'm up there. Far better shape than the one I had in '81.
