You know? Since you mentioned it seems like I do  remember a little about 
that one. Now that I think about it I cited that example  to my wife as the 
reason we really should buy the one in Chicago! The $4K sale  to Studio City 
made a greater impression I guess. One other thing that stands  out 
concerning the SX-115 is nearly all of them I have seen for sale are in  pretty good 
condition. Maybe the original owners knew they were buying something  
special and took good care of them or maybe it just hasn't been long enough  
since they were new to make many trips to the fest in the back of a pick-up. And 
 I always thought those scuffs and scrapes were patina from working rare DX 
into  the wee hours of the morning by candle light.

You  must've missed the one that sold on ebay for $6K a few years back.
Even the  earlier $4K price (set by a certain 6 Lander) was incredible
at the time,  beating out the current SX-88 prices by a grand or more.
Today they seem to  be back down into the $600-$1K realm for the most
part. I was fortunate to  get mine in the late 90s from the original
owner for $550, can't remember if  that included shipping. Nice radio
overall, and despite using only one  sideband for AM it has the SX-88
beat in stability as well as sensitivity as  I recall, and actually
uses a product detector for sideband.
