Hi guys, Paul, Gary, Bob, etc.,
I agree, this is one of the nicest big receivers ever. And it looks the
greatest, too. I have had several, lost track of just which, present one is
an -A that I got 4-5 yrs ago. I use it quite often on the VSB net with the
Invader 2000. I've done nothing to it, tho' it does need some help. Ray
Osterwald put out a nice 3-4 (or 5) article series on refurbing one in ER, I
recommend that to anyone that's getting into one.
Some 10-12 yrs ago when I got my first one (after lusting over them in
the 50' -'60's ads), I checked most of the Pink Chiefs at the selectivity
switch and found them all OK. I think that's the one that lunched it's
power xfmr 'cuz I didn't dry it out well after I cleaned it (but I don't
know how long it had set before that). This present one drifts for several
hours, I've changed a cupla tubes and helped a little, but just try to
remember to turn it on a few hours early on Sun. One of these days I"ll get
a round tuit.
    They don't need any mods.
