The S-107 was a "reboxed" S-53A. I had an S-107 when
I was a Novice Class and for the first few months as a
General Class back in 1959. Frankly, it worked pretty
well even on 15 meters. 10 meters and 6 meters were
marginal, but the receiver was pretty much as
sensitive as many of the "el cheapo" 6 meter AM rigs
of the day.
Ended up with a couple of them when "re-creating" my
Novice station.
The 6 meter band actually uses the bandspread and the
receiver will tune from around 25 MHz to around 56 MHz
but the dial is not calibrated.
I worked KC4USB at Marie Byrd Land Antarctica on 15
meter CW when I was a Novice from northwestern
Indiana. Also, worked a "fair" number of other
stations on 15 meters using the receiver.
Now the receiver does drift until it gets really
warmed up. However, not any worse than the majority
of the low to medium "end" receivers of the late
1950s.

The S-53 has an 2075 KHz IF and was a one year wonder.
The S-53A had 455 KHz and a real BFO which was only in
the original S-38.
Both S-53's had a make believe 6M switch position but
they also had 2 IF stages as well as seperate
oscillator and mixer making for less noise than a
6SA7/6BE6 type pentagrid mixer.
The A model wasnt a half bad entry level radio for
80/40M.
