The S-53 has an 2075 KHz IF and was a one year wonder. The S-53A had 455 KHz
and a real BFO which was only in the original S-38.
Both S-53's had a make believe 6M switch position but they also had 2 IF
stages as well as seperate oscillator and mixer making for less noise than a
6SA7/6BE6 type pentagrid mixer.
The A model wasnt a half bad entry level radio for 80/40M.

Is a Haillcrafters S-53 essentially a S-38 with a power transformer?
BAMA is down for server servicing so I can't get the manual at this time.
