[Hallicrafters] The value of boxes?

The original boxes are probably being bought by collectors who already have
the items that came in them. Having the box also just adds to the value of
the item. Maybe it's an effort at gathering and collecting as much factory
original content for a particular item as possible.

I remember years ago visiting a very prominent well known collector in
Pennsylvania who owned old farmhouses out in the country he was using to store
radio equipment in. He took me on the tour that day and one particular spectacle
stood out that I have not forgotten since. In the middle of one room was a
stack of five or six SX-28's with a junker on the bottom and a near mint one
on top. Upon seeing that I commented "I guess you can cross SX-28 off your
list now" but maybe I was wrong... I didn't see an SX-28 box around anywhere.

> wonder if anyone would spent $2100 for SX-88 box?

Maybe...if they had a nice SX-88 and wanted the original box to go with it
for the reasons stated above.
