[Hallicrafters] The value of boxes?

I have collected Lionel in the 70's and 80's. I had a big passion for those
trains. I once went to a Train show, which is a model train hamfest, in 25
below zero weather! I know the passion first hand but I spent money (alot)
on what I thought were functional or a least displayable items (with
original boxes). I would never think of paying astronomical prices for just
a box.

I wonder if anyone would spent $2100 for SX-88 box?
