That is not true!  To accept credit cards one has to be "set up" with one of the banks that handle this.  Most "small time" operators are NOT "set up" to take credit cards but PayPal is "set up" to handle credit cards.  Frankly, with the fees and so forth that the bank which "handles" the credit card takes from the seller you have to have a fair amount of credit card traffic to cover the cost of doing business with credit cards.  Also, if you don't do a certain level of business with the bank they will cancel your ability to take credit cards.

Now I don't like to take PayPal except for foreign sales and even then "cringe" at the fees that PayPal charges the person who is receiving the funds.

OTOH I refuse to use PP at all. If they can accept PP they can accept a  credit card.
