Yep, I agree.  I enjoy restoring the trash-can radios a lot more than paying 
top dollar for a "gottahave".  To me, the relative (low) "investment" is 
part of the fun.   It's sorta like Ice Cream that's on sale always tastes 
better than full price stuff doesn't it?  Then again, maybe I'm just too 
cheap!

One of my favorites is a 75A-2 that I bought for $2.00 at an auction.  It 
was in SAD shape.  It took about $50 worth of scavenged missing parts (BFO 
assembly, meter, knobs, etc.) and now is one of the first I turn on to check 
the AM windows.  Oh, it was in a 32V-3 cabinet at the time,  which now has a 
nice new powder coat (ala Howard Mills) and will house my 32V when it's 
done.
